Being a man these days is fraught with mixed messages and confusion. While men are often expected to be the breadwinners, these days traditional gender roles are more blurred than ever, with men being expected to take on a lot more responsibilities. This can leave men feeling inadequate, unsure or confused about their identity and “role” as a man.
This increase in responsibility can leave men feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, stressed, angry, anxious, insecure, resentful, emasculated, with low self-esteem, tired and/or depressed, even sexually dysfunctional. To make matters even harder, many men are still conditioned to believe that “real men” don’t cry. The difficulty in processing these conflicting messages, means men can internalise their feelings and “escape” by engaging in unhealthy behaviours. Substance abuse, aggressive outbursts, addictions, withdrawal, avoidance and in some cases even physical violence can be an unhealthy way of coping. If you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, misunderstood, exhausted, angry or depressed, come in to talk it over with one of our mens’ mental health specialists. Real men DO cry and we are here to listen. |

Men's Mental Health Counselling
Men’s issues can refer to a number of concerns that may affect mental or physical health and well-being and lead men to seek therapy. Statistically, men do not typically seek therapy in high numbers, but when they do, they generally report the same types of concerns that might lead anyone to seek therapy, such as depression, stress, anxiety, and relationship concerns.
Some mental health professionals may offer counseling services tailored to issues particularly relevant to men.
