Being a child (or having children) is not always such easy sailing. Childhood is “supposed” to be a fairytale of Cinderella, Superman and Santa Claus. Riding bikes in the street, kicking a ball around the park and painting pretty pictures with art-paint. We are not always so lucky.
Many children – whether it’s due to genetics or circumstance can face some confronting issues and as a result – parents can struggle to know where to go to find out where to get help. Some parents can find it difficult to understand their child’s issues and behaviour. Why is my child having tantrums? Does my child have learning disabilities? Is this Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD)? Why is my child unhappy or non-communicative?
For some children the world can be a confronting and confusing place. As a parent it can be tricky to navigate the new world of childhood with all its cyber activity and social media. Children can often feel stressed or pressured by a number of issues such as fitting in socially, academic pressure, learning disabilities, bullying, anxiety, depression, grief or perhaps separation issues.
If your child’s behaviour seems to be out of kilter, for example withdrawal, angry or anxious – or demonstrating self-harm behaviours - it’s possible that they may be experiencing some problems that they can’t necessarily articulate or don’t want or know how to discuss.
At Relieve Psychology, our child psychologists know how to assist and get to the bottom of your child’s issues and gently work with them to find better coping strategies. They have a vast experience in all facets of child psychology and child therapy. We also provide parenting advice for parents who are unable to find a solution for their child’s issues.
After each session, parents are invited back to discuss on-going goals and outcomes for their child.
All consultations are confidential and you will be treated with care, empathy and respect.
